The impulse to buy every color so you don't have to mix paint is a mistake. When painting a landscape the grass shrubs and trees will be a multitude of greens, but you don't need a multitude of paint tubes to capture them. Indeed, it can be a mistake because some greens have a very chemical hue, not like nature at all and some are not compatible to the eye with others. Learning both color theory and how to mix from the basic color wheel will improve your overall composition. We will explore color variations and practice glazing with simple landscapes.

The instructor, Tina Phelps is a painting and drawing artist with past careers in education and occupational therapy. She has studied art at Macalester College and St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, Putney School of Art in London, England, Minnetonka Center for the Arts in Minnesota, and pen and ink with Don Blackwell at Isothermal Community College.

Tangle in the Dark

Friday, June 14th

5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Cost: $40.00 members/$45.00 non members

There is an additional $7 supply fee paid to the instructor on the day of the class. Supplies are yours to take home.

Come learn how to take your current tangles and new ones into the dark! In this class we will learn how to use white ink and charcoal to tangle and shade on black tiles. Black tile tangling offers new explorations and experiences with familiar tangles.

The Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. Through the Zentangle method of drawing you can relax, focus, expand your imagination, trust your creativity, increase your creativity, and perhaps most importantly….have fun!

The patterns in Zentangle are called tangles. You create tangles with combinations of dots, lines, simple curves, S-curves and orbs. These simple shapes are the "Elemental Strokes" in all Zentangle art. These patterns are drawn on small pieces of paper called "tiles." We call them tiles because you can assemble them into mosaics.

Supply provided with a $7.00 supply fee include black tile Zentangle kit.
