Linda McGregor Art Scholarship

Each year the Rutherford County Art Guild provides a $1000.00 scholarship to a Rutherford County Art Student who is planning to continue their education in fine arts or art education,.

About Linda McGregor

Linda McGregor was a founding member of the Rutherford County Visual Art Guild. She was a watercolor instructor for many, many years. Along with watercolor she enjoyed creating pottery pieces and was a student at the Good Earth Pottery Studio owned by Kiowa Cilone. Linda was a valuable member of the VAC. This scholarship has been created in her memory and love of art to help inspire young people to continue in the arts furthering their education in fine arts or art education.

2024 Linda McGregor Art Scholarship

The Linda McGregor $1,000 art scholarship is intended for a student who resides in Rutherford County who will pursue a degree in art or art education at the college level.


The scholarship is restricted to the visual arts and does not fund theater, dance, or literary arts. All applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee.


Entries will be judged on merit rather than on need. Entries should show both technical skill and originality of vision. Entries based on photographs not taken by the artist are
discouraged.


Applications are due June 1, 2024 before 3 p.m. Decisions will be announced by June 30, 2024.


Applications may be mailed to RCVAG, P.O. Box 2015, Rutherfordton, NC 28139 or dropped off at The Guild, 160 N. Main Street, Rutherfordton.

Application Attachments Required

The qualifications letter signed by your high school art teacher. If you are home schooled, your art mentor should sign.


A copy of your college acceptance letter.


A digital portfolio on disk of high-quality photographs of 6 to 10 pieces of your work.
Please edit photographs so that vertical orientation is consistent throughout portfolio. Saving images to a PowerPoint program is also acceptable.
