This pivotal role involves leading our organization to new heights, fostering artistic growth, and building strong connections within the creative community. As the Guild Manager, you will play a key role in organizing the day-to-day operations of The Guild ensuring the continued success of our vibrant artistic community. Job Title: Guild Manager– Rutherford County Visual Artists Guild

Location: Rutherfordton, NC

Job Type: Part-Time

About Us:  Rutherford County Visual Artists Guild is an organization that specializes in presenting, teaching, and promoting artists and their works. We provide both educational and exhibition opportunities. Our mission is to support artistic development and visibility of emerging and established artists. The Rutherford County Visual Artists Guild is dedicated to advancing the world of art through innovative strategies and passionate dedication.

Summary:  The Guild Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the Guild. This dynamic role includes managing volunteer staff, overseeing office operations, and helping to ensure the success and sustainability of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Facilities Management:

  • Oversee the maintenance and improvement of gallery and studio facilities.

  • Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for visitors, artists, and students.

  • Act as the primary contact and maintain the relationship with the building owner.

  • Maintain a clean and organized store environment.

2. Financial Management:

  • Manage and control expenses within the allocated budget.

  • Monitor financial performance and provide regular reports to the board of directors.

  • Facilitate initiatives that generate income for The Guild including, but not limited to, grant opportunities.

  • Ensure that appropriate financial recordkeeping resources and practices are in place.

 

3. Communication and Reporting:

  • Provide regular updates to the board on store performance.

  • Communicate effectively with volunteer team leaders, addressing concerns and fostering open communication.

4. Inventory Management:

  • Manage inventory in the system entering artists’ inventory and keep inventory documents accurate for displaying artists folders adding and subtracting inventory as artists add and remove from the gallery.

  • Work with 2D and 3D Jury Coordinators for placement of new artwork for display in the gallery.

5. Volunteer Management:

  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

  • Act as the central hub for volunteers by responding to their questions and providing supervision, ensuring a unified vision between all committee groups.​

6. Public Relations and Community Engagement:

  • Act as the primary spokesperson for the organization, maintaining positive relationships with the media, donors, and the community.

  • Build and nurture partnerships with local and regional institutions, artists, and businesses.

 Position Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in business administration or related field.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Leadership and team management experience.

  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excell and Word.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration.

  • Proven experience in the art industry, including artist management, gallery relations, or art agency leadership.

  • Knowledge of retail operations such as merchandising, inventory control, and cash handling.
